PRINCIPAL - David Tussie, FCA

Born 1951, in Buenos Aires, Argentina, of British parents; David emigrated to Manchester in 1962, and again (!) in 1970 to Sydney, Australia, where he qualified as a Chartered Accountant. David decided to return to Manchester in 1977, where he obtained reciprocal qualification to enable him to practice in the UK. In 1985, after having obtained enormous experience in both commercial and private practice, David decided the time was right to set up his own business and Tussies was born. Being part Argentinian he is, naturally, a keen football fan who loves playing 5-a-side (now that 11-a-side is a thing of the past!), and is a passionate supporter of Manchester City.

PARTNER – Nic Chandler, ACA

Nic joined Tussies in 2008, after deciding to bypass University life for a hands-on role in order to study Accountancy from the ground upward. Nic originally qualified as a Member of the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) (2012), and then went on to become an ICAEW Chartered Accountant (ACA) (2017), and subsequently became a Partner of Tussies on 1 October 2020. Nic splits his time between the two Tussies offices, working on all aspects of Accounts and Personal and Business Taxation. Nic’s first love will always be Man United - much to David’s disgust!

CONSULTANT – Jonathan Sugarman, FCA

Jonathan brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to Tussies, and is uniquely able to see things from a client’s perspective after having worked in both industry and professional practice. He looks after and advises a varied portfolio of clients and specialises in tax, both compliance and planning. Jonathan is an unashamed couch potato and enjoys watching football, rugby and motor sport.

PRACTICE MANAGER - Sharon Tussie

Before setting up Tussies with her husband, Sharon worked for the Medical Research Council in its Trauma Unit, based at Manchester University School of Medicine, where she gained a wealth of experience in Management. Nowadays Sharon is responsible for the day-to-day administration of both branches of the practice. When she’s not working, Sharon enjoys spending time playing, dancing and laughing with her seven little grandchildren.

SENIOR ACCOUNTING STAFF (Cheadle) – Gemma Parker, FMAAT

Gemma joined Tussies as a Trainee Accountant in 2009, attaining AAT qualification in 2014, and, over the years, has risen to the lofty heights of David’s assistant! Gemma is based primarily in the Cheadle office where she is often referred to as “Mini Sharon”, having gained enormous expertise in Payroll and Practice Management under Sharon’s tutelage. Gemma has a broad knowledge of and has gained qualifications in various cloud based accounting software. Gemma’s knowledge of all things Tussies, makes her the ultimate go-to person in the practice!

SENIOR VAT/ACCOUNTING STAFF (Cheadle) – Pamella Carter

Pamella started her working career with Tussies in 1998, and, although she left temporarily in 2003 in order to gain experience in another business sector, she came back to us in 2005. Pamella’s main roles include preparation of VAT Returns and Accounts. The rest of Pamella’s time is taken up with looking after her 3 children and her husband.

TRAINEE ACCOUNTANT (Cheadle) – Simon Proctor

Simon joined Tussies in 2019 after leaving University where he had been studying Physics. Simon has settled in so well and has already passed numerous exams through his AAT Level 3 qualification. With his brains and ability, we feel confident he’ll fly through the rest of the courses we put him through, however, even if he doesn’t, he’s a computer whizz and a great baker so we’re very happy to have him on board!

TRAINEE ACCOUNTANT (Cheadle) – Phoebe Coverley

Phoebe recently joined Tussies as an Accounts Apprentice after completing her A-Levels and bypassing University. Although she’s only just joined the team, Phoebe has settled in so well that we feel like she’s been a member of the team forever! Phoebe is currently studying with AAT in order to obtain an Accounting Technician qualification. With her wonderful qualities, we know that Phoebe will achieve great things.

VAT/ACCOUNTS CLERK (Atherton) – Anita Bustard

Based at our Manchester office, Anita is responsible for VAT and Accounts preparation. Anita gained her extensive knowledge through years of experience, having started her career with a previous accountancy practice via a Youth Training Scheme. Anita had a short break from Accountancy in 2001, when she left to join Greater Manchester Police, however, she soon realised that life on the streets didn’t compare with the excitement of work in Accountancy, and soon returned to her true vocation! Alas, Anita is also a committed Manchester United fan.

PAYROLL MANAGER (Atherton) - Victoria Dawson

Originally from Birmingham, Victoria moved to Manchester in 2004, where she has worked in accountancy for over 10 years. Victoria has an extensive knowledge of Payroll and became the Tussies Manchester Payroll Manager following the acquisition in December 2013. Staying true to her Midlands roots she is an avid Aston Villa fan!

PAYROLL CLERK/TRAINEE ACCOUNTING TECHNICIAN (Atherton) – Michelle Worthington

Michelle had been working as a Receptionist before transferring to Tussies but nowadays, she is fully trained in Payroll processing and is currently studying with AAT in order to obtain an Accounting Technician qualification. When she’s not working or studying, Michelle’s time is taken up looking after her two sons and partner.
